Their coats are a rich golden red, which makes them the most resistant to sun burn. They are hardy by nature and well suited to indoor or outdoor living. They have a good maternal instinct and an average size litter is about eight. The meat they produce is fantastic - grown naturally and slowly the meat has a delicious texture & flavour and the crackling never fails! And of course the only bit of a pig you can’t eat is the squeal!
The Yearle herd is reared using traditional methods - My dry sows live outside on a stubble field but come indoors to farrow in straw yards and the young stock remain indoors after weaning.
At the present time my herd consists of 17 breeding sows and 6 maiden gilts and 1 boar, the lines are shown below.
Dam Lines: Ruby, Rita, Roseleaf, Jacqueline, Princess, Maple and Melody
Boar Line: Yorkshireman
Sows farrow every month at Yearle so there is always stock to buy or order.
