News Update & Summer Pig Course Dates. |
I''ve nearly finished my lambing marathon for another year so I can now look forward to seeing you on one of my courses!
As I say lambing is nearly over - we have had every type of weather thrown at us this Spring. It is still very cold and the grass is not growing very much. As I have mentioned before I had some sows abort in the bad snow at the start of the year so I have had a big gap in my farrowing pattern - always the way when I have a waiting list for weaners! However, I''ve had 4 sows farrow this last fortnight and another 6 due during May, so hopefully I will get caught up again soon. I have posted dates for July and August. The recent Tamworth Bloodline Survey shows that Tamworth numbers are holding up quite well. If you are thinking of keeping some pigs either for breeding or fattenning, please try to keep any of the Native Traditional Breeds, as not only are they more tasty but it saves these old breeds too. |
